EQUIPPING MINISTRIES

 

We here at Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church strive to portray an urgency for every member of our church to be consecrated, trained and enlisted into ACTIVE service, under the direct leadership of our Pastor through guidance from God by way of the Holy Spirit.  This journey begins with baptism, new membership classes and then choosing a ministry.

 

 

 

The Purpose of Baptism

Water baptism identifies the believer with the Godhead - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." Matthew 28:19 (NIV)

Water baptism identifies the believer with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection.  "When you came to Christ, you were "circumcised", but not by a physical procedure.  It was a spiritual procedure-the cutting away of your sinful nature.  For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized.  And with him you were raised to a new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead." Colossians 2:11-12 (NLT)

 

"We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life."  Romans 6:4 (NIV)

 

Water baptism is an act of obedience for the believer.  It should be preceded by repentance, which simply means "change".  It is turning from our sin and selfishness to serve the Lord.  It means placing our pride, our past and all of our possessions before the Lord.  It is giving the control of our lives over to Him.

 

 

New Member Classes

Scripture tells us, "But seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness..."  Matthew 6:33.  With that in mind, it is our goal, through intense bible study to provide you with knowledge of God's way of doing things, biblical answers to questions you may have and scriptural clarity where there may be confusion.

What God expects of you through His enabling power

Communication with God and Fellowship with Man, 
and Lifetime of Spiritual Enrichment.

Choose a Ministry to SERVE

It is our goal as members of this great church to be of the utmost service to God, His children and to those in the world who do not know Him ("...so they can see our good works and glorify the Father which is in Heaven"  Matthew 5:16).  We hope to accomplish this through the equipping ministries provided here at Pleasant Green.  Ultimately, it is YOUR responsibility to make yourself available to these ministries.
